		<description>I wonder how we compare here in Australia to those European studies, both on happiness and on alcohol consumption.

In terms of things that matter in absolute terms, such as material wellbeing (food, shelter, clothing) and security from violence (lower crime, less threats of terrorism, not living in a war zone etc), and of course individual liberty (although most people seem to take this for granted way too much), we here have a pretty good deal compared to most of the world, including when compared to more cramped countries like those in Europe.</description>

		<description>The evidence on hgher levels of happiness in Nordic countries has been long and persistent. Could it have something to do with them having less social inequality (less envy and resentment) and more ethnic cohesion (although that is changing)?</description>
