I’d be happy to go for the job at the uni, Andrew. I think I could do a great deal of good there. Is hiring and firing the academics part of the job, as that is the only way I would want to do it.
I’d love to go back there for a few months.

Does it sound like it has anything to do with hiring and firing academics?

A public servant with about five years experience gets that kind of money. Best of luck to the university in finding the kind of person they are looking for.

Ah, but Andrew, you are unreplacable. 🙂

Sadly, none out of two. The university job I could do & would enjoy, but have no qualifications for; the CIS job I’m experienced & qualified for, but have no interest in doing.

I could do either job and both would be fun for a while. Neither would want to be challenged by me as they each enjoy the insularity and mediocrity of their existence. I could not pander to their monumental egos in the same skilled way as Andrew does. I do not think diplomacy is my strongest skill.
