Does the difference in male and female height translate to the difference in earnings?
Average female height is 5’6″. Does a man who is that height earn roughly the same as the average woman?
I suspect not, but it may explain some of the difference.

Interesting. Being tall is considered an attractive trait for men, but not especially so for women. That suggests it’s due to perception rather than an actual difference in ability (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Height_and_intelligence).

It could also be an example of the halo effect — attractive people are usually considered smarter, more honest etc, which would have a positive effect on advancement.
